Pairing an ION Device

INHALE attempts to auto-connect, or auto re-connect to a device, over Bluetooth (BLE) when it initially starts, but there may be rare instances where you want to manually pair to a specific ION device.
For example, you may want to manually connect if:
There are multiple IONs turned on and INHALE auto-connected to the wrong device.
The device was turned on after the INHALE was launched
Your ION has gone into sleep mode, due to inactivity
You are not sure if an ION is connected
The INHALE app automatically tries to re-connect with the last ION it paired with. If INHALE cannot find that ION (ION is off / asleep, or has never been paired), then INHALE will scan for all available IONs.
When INHALE starts it will auto-connect if it finds a single ION or a previously connected ION
If you are doing initial setup for multiple ION/headset pairs, it is easier if you pair these one at a time. i.e, Turn on one (1) ION device, and one (1) VR headset / INHALE app at a time.
Ensure your IONs and VR headsets are charged.
Ensure all IONs and VR headsets are turned off
Turn on headset #1 and launch the INHALE app
Turn on ION #1 and pair it with that headset / INHALE app
Turn on the ION device pressing and holding the power button on the bottom right side of the ION for 3 seconds
Note -- you’ll know the ION is “on” if the LED lights up the triangle on the front of the ION
Inhale will auto-connect to the only ION it encounters.
After a successful pairing, you can exit the IHNALE application, turn off headset #1 and ION #1
Turn off the ION device pressing and holding the power button on the bottom right side of the ION for 3 seconds
Note -- you’ll know the ION is “off” if the LED on the front of the ION is NOT illuminated.
Repeat for each remaining headset
Turn on headset #2 and launch the INHALE app
Turn on ION #2 and pair it with that headset / INHALE app
etc.
If you keep these Headset/ION pairs together, the INHALE app on each headset will automatically search for and try to connect to the previously connected ION.
Ensure both the ION and the headset are charged.
Turn on the VR headset and the ION you wish to connect.
load the INHALE app
If you see a “No ION?” popup notification in the INHALE app asking if you would like to proceed, select “No”
From inside the INHALE app “Gallery” (VR space with pictures on the walls, etc) face the wall / corner immediately to the right of the “flower room” -- this may be “behind” you
If you see a “Settings Menu” on that wall / corner, continue to step #4
If you don’t see a “Settings Menu” on that wall / corner, then:
Find the “Menu” bubble (blue bubble with a compass in it) and wave your hand through the bubble to open the main menu
Find the “Open Settings Menu” option (blue bubble with “gear” icon inside) and wave your hand through the bubble to open the settings menu (this option will change to “Close Settings Menu” when you do so)
Face the wall / corner to the right of the “flower room” and find the Settings Menu
Face the open Settings Menu and select “Help”
If you don’t see “Help” as an option:
Click the “Back” button in the top left corner of the menu panel until you see “Settings Menu” at the top and the “Help” option
Select “Help”
Find the “Help” menu and select “Scan for IONs”
The INHALE app should automatically detect the ION you’ve turned on and connect to it
If there are multiple IONs found you will see all the available IONs on the scan results screen
Select the desired ION attached to your headset. The ION name should include the ION serial number engraved on the bottom of the ION
With the ION successfully connected, an audio track should begin explaining how to use INHALE and navigate through the Gallery
Note -- you can quickly confirm that the ION is successfully connected and operating as expected by moving to one of the totems (flowers or citrus hovering above the pedestals in the Gallery), grabbing one of them and bringing it towards your face to smell the scent associated with it
Reminder: If you’re doing initial setup for more than one ION / INHALE app, it is easier to turn off any other ION devices and exit any INHALE apps on other VR headsets besides the ION / headset pair you’re setting up. INHALE will attempt to auto-connect if it encounters only one ION Device
