ION Health and Safety Warnings
TO REDUCE THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY, DISCOMFORT, OR PROPERTY DAMAGE, PLEASE ENSURE THAT ALL USERS READ THE PRODUCT USAGE MANUAL AND THE WARNINGS BELOW CAREFULLY BEFORE THE OVR TECHNOLOGY ION SYSTEM.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU USE YOUR OVR TECHNOLOGY ION DEVICE
Read and follow all setup and operating instructions provided with your ION device. Failure to use the device as directed may result in serious injury or personal discomfort.
Review the hardware and software recommendations for use of your VR equipment, this includes, but is not limited to the headset (HMD), the host computer, the Virtual Reality content, and your VR “play-space.”
Virtual reality is an immersive experience that can be intense. Scent may increase the feeling of immersion. If you have a history of discomfort when exposed to certain content or experiences or are new to virtual reality, consult with your medical professional before proceeding with an immersive VR experience.
The ION device precisely emits scent particles to the user in coordination with virtual reality technology designed to deepen the immersive experience. If you have a history of sensitivity or allergic reaction to certain smells or fragrance products, please use with caution. If you feel any discomfort you should discontinue use and see a doctor.
Children under the age of 13 (thirteen) should NOT us this product. Children age 13 (thirteen) and older should be constantly monitored by an adult to ensure all health safety and proper usage is enforced.
WARNING: ION DEVICE USAGE
The ION device delivers specific scents within the Virtual Reality experience. If you have a history of sensitivity or allergic reactions to certain smells or fragrance products, please use with caution. If you feel any discomfort you should discontinue use and see a doctor.
HIGH-RISK USE: Your device is not designed or intended for use in any application or situation where failure of any kind of the device could lead to death, serious bodily injury, or severe environmental damage (“high-risk use”). If you elect to use your Device for a high-risk use, you do so at your own risk.
CAUTION: Do not use your system if any part is broken or damaged
To reduce the risk of fire, shock or damage to your ION device, do not expose your device to rain, snow or other types of moisture.
To keep your device in prime operating condition:
Do not use your device near water or in a damp or excessively humid location.
Do not use your device near heat sources, food, excessive dirt, dust, oil, chemicals, or in strong direct sunlight.
Do not place objects on top of your device.
Do not place your device on uneven or unstable surfaces.
Be sure to hold it securely when it is carried and not via an accessory, cable, or cord.
Use only attachments/accessories specified by OVR Technology.
Opening and/or repairing your device can present electric shock, device damage, fire, and personal injury risks, and other hazards.
WARNING: OLFACTORY CONTENT AND SCENTWARE
The ION device delivers specific scents within the Virtual Reality experience. If you have a history of sensitivity or allergic reactions to certain smells or fragrance products, please use with caution. If you feel any discomfort you should discontinue use and see a doctor.
Only use the ION device with approved VR hardware, VR content, scent cartridges, and scentware specifically designed to work with the OVR platform.
Use of an unauthorized device, accessory, software and/or or hacking the device, software or content may result in injury to you or others, may cause performance issues or damage to your ION device, VR system and related services, and will void your warranty.
Use of unauthorized scentware for the ION device or unauthorized Scent Cartridge may result in injury to you or others, may cause damage to your system and related services, and will void your warranty.
The OVR Scent Cartridge which contains the scentware is NOT user serviceable or re-fillable. If you need additional scent supplies or you believe the Scent Cartridge is not functioning correctly, contact your authorized content provider, or OVR Technology support directly.
Do not store the Scent Cartridge in the ION device when not in use. Always follow the instructions on the proper storage the Scent Cartridge and its contents. Failure to store the Scent Cartridge in its specifically designed case, and in the proper environment, may lead the Scent Cartridge and its contents to premature failure.
CHOKING HAZARD. The ION device and the Scent Cartridge are not toys. The Scent Cartridge is a small part. Keep away from pets and children under 3.
CAUTION: SCENTWARE SAFETY
OVR scents are developed to be water-based as opposed to solvent based like many perfumes and colognes to minimize any irritants. The concentration of any scent materials is less than 10% of the total volume. Additionally each scent is released in minimal quantities for each interaction so total exposure to any fragrance material is limited in scale. Fragrance materials are a combination of natural, artificial and synthetic and follow all fragrance standards set by IFRA (International Fragrance Association) for concentration and safety. People have different reactions to different materials and some people may experience allergic or other reactions.
CAUTION: ION DEVICE AND SCENTWARE CARTRIDGE CARE
Handle your ION device with care. It contains sensitive electronic components inside. Always handle your ION with care to maintain its appearance.
Please follow the instructions in the manual to perform periodic maintenance and cleaning of the device and its components.
Unplug all cables and turn your device off before cleaning. Only clean the exterior of your device. Clean your device with a dry cloth.
Do not use liquid or chemical cleansers.
Do not let your device get wet or come in contact with liquids. Water can damage the device and may affect the quality and functionality of the scentware
To avoid damage, do not expose the ION device to moisture, high humidity, high concentrations of dust or airborne materials, temperatures outside their operating range or direct sunlight.
Your device can be damaged if dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed, or if it comes in contact with liquid. If you suspect damage to your device or its battery, discontinue use of your device, as it may cause overheating or injury.
Do not use your system if any part is broken or damaged. If you find any damage, stop using it and contact OVR Technology for support options.
Do not attempt to repair any part of your system yourself. Repairs should only be made by an authorized servicer. Opening and/or repairing your device can present electric shock, device damage, fire, and personal injury risks, and other hazards.
Do not place your ION device or the Scent Cartridge in areas that may get very hot, such as on or near a cooking surface, cooking appliance, iron or radiator or in direct sunlight. Excessive heating can damage the device and may affect the quality and functionality of the scentware, or the battery and could cause the device or the battery to explode. Do not dry a wet or damp device with an appliance or heat source such as a microwave oven, hair dryer, iron or radiator. Avoid leaving your device in a car in high temperatures.
Do not store the Scent Cartridge in the ION device when not in use. Always follow the instructions on the proper storage the Scent Cartridge and its contents. Failure to store the Scent Cartridge in its specifically designed case, and in the proper environment, may lead the Scent Cartridge and its contents to premature failure.
Avoid dropping your device. Dropping it, especially on a hard surface, can potentially cause damage to the device and battery. Inspect your device for visual damage before each use. If you suspect damage to your device or battery, contact your authorized provider or OVR Support.
To avoid damage, keep your device, charger, cables and accessories away from children and pets.
CAUTION: SKIN IRRITATION
The device is worn next to your nose, mouth and skin. Stop using the device if you notice swelling, itchiness, skin irritation, or other skin reactions. If symptoms persist, contact a doctor.
This device is made of materials commonly used in consumer electronic devices. The Scent Cartridges are designed for safe repetitive use. However, certain people may develop skin irritation due to allergies or sensitivities. To reduce the risk of skin irritation:
Clean your device regularly.
Avoid using lotions or other products under the portions of the device that contact your skin.
Do not wear over injured skin.
Tighten the adjustment until snug, but not uncomfortably tight. If your skin becomes irritated, discontinue using the device.
WARNING: AC POWER, BATTERY AND CHARGING
Your ION device contains a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and charging cable. Only use the OVR Technology ION charging cords.
Improper use of the battery or charging cable result in a fire, explosion, battery leakage or other hazard. Follow these instructions to reduce the risk of injury to you or others, or damage to your product or other property.
Periodically inspect connection cords, and connector tips for damage or signs of wear. Do not use if any part of your connector port, connector cable, or any part is damaged, cracked, or exposed. We recommend that you replace your damaged power cord with a genuine OVR Technology replacement power cord.
When disconnecting the power cord, pull on the plug—do not pull on the cord.
The battery in your device is not user replaceable or serviceable. Do not attempt to open your device to access the battery, open, repair or replace the battery. Please contact your authorized provider or OVR Support, if you require battery or power management support for your device.
Do not leave or charge your device in direct sunlight for an extended period of time. Doing so may cause damage or melt the battery.
Use only AC power provided by a standard (mains) wall outlet. Do not use non-standard power sources, such as generators or inverter even if the voltage and frequency appear acceptable.
Do not use external battery packs or power sources other than the included USB cable, or authorized accessories to charge the battery or power the device.
Do not attempt to charge or use the device if it does not turn on after attempted charging, if it gets abnormally warm when it is used or charged, or if the battery compartment is swollen, leaking liquid or smoking.
Do not disassemble, crush, bend or deform, puncture, shred or put a high degree of pressure on the device. This can cause leakage or an internal short-circuit in the battery, resulting in overheating.
In the event of a battery leak, do not allow the liquid to come in contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with large amounts of water and seek medical advice.
Always ensure that the device has adequate ventilation and air flow while in use or charging. Covering the device with materials that significantly affect air flow may affect its performance and poses a possible risk of fire or explosion.
Your device and USB cable comply with applicable limits for industry surface temperature standards. To prevent potential low-temperature burns from prolonged direct contact, avoid direct skin contact.
Users with special medical or physical conditions that impair the ability to detect heat against your skin should take special care when using the device or charging with the USB cable.
Exposed device cables and cords pose a potential tripping hazard. Protect cords from being walked on or crushed. Arrange all cables and cords so that people and pets are not likely to trip over or accidentally pull on them as they move around or walk through the area. Do not allow children to play with cables and cords
Protect cords from being pinched or sharply bent, particularly where they connect to a wall power (mains) outlet, the power supply unit, and your device.
Do not jerk, knot, sharply bend, stretch, or otherwise abuse the power cords. Do not wrap your power cord too tightly, especially around the power brick. Instead, wrap it using loose coils rather than tight angles
Do not expose the connector to liquids, sweat, dirt or other contaminants. Using a contaminated connector can lead to heating and cause discomfort or injury. Stop using the connector immediately. Unplug the DC connector from the device. Dry and wipe it with a clean cloth
Dispose of your device and battery properly. Do not dispose of the device, scent cartridge or battery in a fire or incinerator, as the battery may explode when overheated. Dispose of separately from household waste.
WARNING: DEVICE TEMPERATURE
It is normal for your device to feel warm to the touch while in use or while charging. It complies with the user-accessible temperature limits defined by the International Standards for Safety (IEC 60950-1 and IEC 62368)
Prolonged skin contact with a device that is hot to the touch may produce skin discomfort or redness, or low temperature burns. If your device feels hot to the touch or is uncomfortably warm, stop using or charging it, and allow it to cool down.
To reduce potential heat-related concerns, follow these guidelines:
Keep your device in a well-ventilated area when in use or charging. Allow for adequate air circulation under and around the device.
Don’t sleep with your device, or place it under a blanket or pillow, and avoid contact between your body and your device when charging.
Never place your device on furniture or any other surface that might be marred by exposure to heat since the base of your device may increase in temperature during normal use.
CAUTION: INTERFERENCE WITH MEDICAL DEVICES
Although your device is designed, tested, and manufactured to comply with regulations governing radio frequency emission in countries such as the United States, Canada, the European Union, and Japan, the wireless transmitters and electrical circuits in the device may cause unintentional interference in other electronic equipment.
Interference with Medical Devices. The ION device may contain magnets or components that emit radio waves, which could affect the operation of nearby electronics, including cardiac pacemakers, hearing aids and defibrillators. If you have a pacemaker or other implanted medical device, do not use the device without first consulting your doctor or the manufacturer of your medical device. Maintain a safe distance between the device and your medical devices. Stop using the device if you observe a persistent interference with your medical device.
CAUTION: CONTAGIOUS CONDITIONS
To avoid transferring contagious conditions (like pink eye), do not share the device with persons with contagious conditions, infections or diseases, particularly of the nose, eyes, or skin. The device should be cleaned between each use alcohol prep pads or antibacterial wipes. Do not use liquid or chemical cleansers.
WARNING: DISCOMFORT
Immediately discontinue using the ION device if any of the following symptoms are experienced:
Seizures;
Loss of awareness;
Dizziness;
Disorientation;
Impaired balance;
Increased salivation;
Nausea;
Lightheadedness;
Discomfort or pain in the head or eyes;
Drowsiness;
Fatigue;
Do not use the ION device until all symptoms have completely subsided for several hours.
Seek medical attention if you have serious and/or persistent symptoms.
WARNING: MAGNETIC PARTS
Parts of your device are magnetic and may attract metallic items.
To reduce the potential risk of sparks and resulting damage to your device, other objects, and/or possible personal injury, verify the electrical connection areas are free of metallic objects before interconnecting devices or charging connectors.
Do not place magnetically sensitive devices, credit cards, other magnetic storage media near your device to reduce the potential for magnetic interference between your device and other devices, possible disruption of medical device operation, or corruption of magnetically stored data.
WARNING: RADIO FREQUENCY (RF) INTERFERENCE
Devices that contain WiFi and Bluetooth® radio transmitters have been designed, manufactured and tested to meet the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Industry Canada and European guidelines for RF exposure and Specific Absorption Rate.
Although your device has been tested for safety and compatibility, it contains a radio that could affect other electronic equipment or medical devices (such as pacemakers) under certain circumstances, causing them to malfunction and result in possible injury or death.
Turn off your device in any location where instructed to do so.
Follow all crew instructions while on an aircraft. Turn off your device and/or turn on airplane mode as instructed by the crew, including for any wireless devices packed in your luggage. Consult airline staff or the crew about using your device in flight.
Follow all the facility rules and posted instructions in areas where cellular or wireless network use is prohibited.

CAUTION: ELECTRICAL SHOCK
To reduce the risk of electric shock:
Do not open, disassemble, pierce, or attempt to modify any of the components provided.
Do not charge this device if any part of the provided USB cable is torn, any wires are exposed, or battery compartment damaged.
Do not insert any metal, conductive, or any foreign objects into the charging port.
Do not expose the device to water or fluid.
ONLY use provided USB cable with your device.

CAUTION: TRAVELING WITH YOUR DEVICE
Before boarding any aircraft or packing a wireless device in luggage that will be checked or turn the wireless device off (if it has an on/off switch). Listen for the in-flight announcement that tells you if you are allowed to use your device during a flight. In-flight wireless use is at the discretion of the airline.
Do not place your device or other objects on or near the airbags in vehicles equipped with airbags. Objects placed on or near an airbag may cause serious personal injury or death if the airbag deploys.
Do not store or carry flammable liquids, gases, or explosive materials in the same compartment as your device, its parts, and/or accessories.
Turn off your device, and do not remove or install battery chargers or any other accessory for your device when you are in an area with potentially explosive atmospheres. Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres are often, but not always, posted and may include fueling areas or fuel service stations; below decks on boats or other vessels; fuel and/or chemical transfer and storage facilities; and areas where flammable chemicals or particles, such as grain dust or metal powders have collected in the air. In such areas, sparks can occur and cause an explosion or fire.
WARNING: KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN AND PETS
The ION and its accessories are not toys. Do not allow small children to play with them because children could hurt themselves or others or damage your device.
