Uninstalling

To install a new version of OVR Engine, to reinstall or to uninstall, you’ll first need to uninstall the application with Add or remove programs. Please note that the OVR engine .msi file will actually install two programs 1. OVR Engine and 2.OVR Gateway. The gateway is used as a communication node between programs and the device. It must also be uninstalled in this process.

Run

Configuration Tab

Upon opening the OVR Engine, you’ll notice you’re currently in the Configuration tab. Here, you can set your device’s target network SSID and password once the device is plugged in over USB and connected to the software. Please note that if you would like see your password while or after entering to make sure you have the right characters, you'll need to hold down the "Alt" key.

Note: configuring the device can only be done over a USB connection.

Note: A know bug may cause an Error regarding a configuration file during the first use of OVR Engine with a new device. Please just click ok and move on.

Manual Activation Tab

The second tab in the OVR Engine allows you to manually activate the array of scents. If you intend to used WiFi mode please unplug the device and set the switch on the ION device to the on position.

Connectivity

If your device is connected over USB, the device will communicate with an application over USB mode, but if your device is not connected to your computer over USB, the device will put itself into its default state. Please ensure that the default state in the configuration tab is set to either "3" or "WiFi". Once unplugged from USB and powered on, the engine will then automatically look for your device based on the "Device Name" applied from the Configuration tab.

If you want to use the device exclusively on Serial you can enter "2" in the default state field. This will prevent the device from searching for WiFi. However, this will also turn off the red light which flashes when looking for (fast) and connected (slow) to a WiFi network. Without this light, there will be no visual indication that the unit is on. The red light will continue to illuminate when recieving odorant commands, but will not be on by default when you turn the unit on.

Note: Please see the Device Status section in the ION user Manual for mode details on the status LED. Additionally, f that does not work either, you may need to add OVR Engine to your allowed apps list in Windows Defender Firewall.

Closing OVR Gateway is IMPORTANT!!!!

Currently, OVR Gateway does not close on its own when OVR Engine closes. The intent for the OVR gateway is for the program to sit in the system tray as an icon and be managed there, the same as one would see for a printer driver. We are still working on this functionality and in the meantime would ask that you open up the task manager and right-click on the OVR Gateway process and manually end it by right-clicking and selecting "end task". Thanks for your patience while we work on this.

Firmware Update

The firmware is able to be updated by the button in the upper right-hand corner of the program just above the OVR logo. The device will need to be plugged into your computer via USB and while it is plugged in you should see a firmware version number instead of "OVR vXXXX".

Once it says Finished, unplug your device and wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in. This will force the device to reboot properly. Be very careful not to unplug the device while it is in the process of uploading the firmware as this can damage the device.

Configurations

In order to work with configurations the program must be run in administrator mode. This can be accomplished by right-clicking the application in the start menu and clicking "Run as administrator". Once that is complete you should be able to save a configuration for later use in the event that you need to rapidly load custom configurations.
