In order to use the ION X it must be plugged into a power source via USB and have a cartridge inserted.
Comment ION Package contents: ION Device, Scent Cartridge, USB battery and cable in a box
Remove the shipping sticker on the top side of the cartridge and dispose of it. When not in use please put the cartridge back in its original foil pouch.
Turn the ION X device upside down, open the sliding drawer of the device and tilt the drawer backward
locate the tab locking features on the sides of the device and Insert the cartridge so that the tabs slide into the locking feature. Make sure to keep the side with holes facing the soft gasket and the foil side facing outward so that you can see the graphics on the cartridge when fully seated against the gasket.
After fully inserting the cartridge, slide the drawer over the cartridge. You should feel the drawer applying some clamping pressure onto the cartridge. Keep applying pressure to sliding the drawer until it closes completely over the cartridge.
After inserting a cartridge, you'll want to plug the device in via USB C. You can use the supplied USB battery and USB A to C cord, but you are not limited to this.
You can use any USB C cord of your choosing as well as any USB power port to give power to the device, given the port is rated for 1.5 amps. The standard USB A 2.0 port is the most common and will supply 5 volts and 1.5 amps of power. However just about any USB connection will work as long as it delivers the minimum power. More about that here
After getting the device plugged in, push the large button on the top of the device and holding it down for 3 seconds. This will now initiate the bootup sequence for the device and you should see the following sequence of LED signals displaying through the button.
SOLID YELLOW: will indicate that the system is booting up and doing a system check, please wait until led changes color before attempting to use the device (This step should not take more than 30 seconds)
SOLID GREEN: indicates a successful boot and all system are ready. At this point the ION X will be broadcasting a bluetooth advertisement signal which OVR apps and plugins will be able to pick up by leveraging your operating system's bluetooth hardware. (IMPORTANT!!! At this moment, the ION X is designed to initiate a connection from the application side first, which means you should not connect and pair the device from the OS's blue tooth menu system)
SOLID BLUE: indicates a connection to a bluetooth device.
If you have trouble achieving the sequence above you may see some other LED signals which may indicate that the device is having an issue.
SOLID RED: Internal pressure sensor is not active
BLINKING RED: runtime error (ex flash memory corrupted) OR low pressure
