# Health & Safety

Important health, safety, and usage warnings for the OVR Omara device and scent cartridges.

**WARNING — Before You Use Your OVR Technology Omara Device**

* Read and follow all setup and operating instructions provided with your Omara device. Failure to use the device as directed may result in serious injury or personal discomfort.
* Review the hardware and software recommendations for your processing equipment and software content, including host computer, mobile device, or VR equipment. This includes — but is not limited to — the headset (HMD), host computer, game content, and your VR play-space.
* Virtual reality is an immersive experience that can be intense, and scent may further increase the feeling of immersion. If you have a history of discomfort when exposed to certain content or experiences, or are new to virtual reality, consult with your medical professional before proceeding.
* The Omara device precisely emits scent particles to the user in coordination with digital content designed to deepen the immersive experience. If you have a history of sensitivity or allergic reaction to certain smells or fragrance products, please use with caution. Discontinue use and see a doctor if you feel any discomfort.
* Children under the age of 13 should **not** use this product. Children age 13 and older should be continuously monitored by an adult to ensure all health, safety, and proper usage guidelines are followed.

**WARNING — Omara Device Usage**

* The Omara device delivers specific scents within the digital experience. If you have a history of sensitivity or allergic reactions to certain smells or fragrance products, please use with caution. Discontinue use and see a doctor if you feel any discomfort.
* **High-risk use:** Your device is not designed or intended for any application where failure of any kind could lead to death, serious bodily injury, or severe environmental damage. If you elect to use your device for a high-risk use, you do so at your own risk.
* **Caution:** Do not use your system if any part is broken or damaged.
* To reduce the risk of fire, shock, or damage to your Omara device, do not expose it to rain, snow, or other types of moisture.
* To keep your device in prime operating condition:
  * Do not use near water or in a damp / excessively humid location.
  * Do not use near heat sources, food, excessive dirt, dust, oil, chemicals, or in strong direct sunlight.
  * Do not place objects on top of the device.
  * Do not place the device on uneven or unstable surfaces.
  * Hold securely when carrying — not via an accessory, cable, or cord.
  * Use only attachments and accessories specified by OVR Technology.
* Opening and/or repairing your device can present electric shock, device damage, fire, personal injury, and other hazards.

**WARNING — General VR Environment Usage**

* For the proper use and setup of virtual reality experiences, please review and adhere to the setup and usage recommendations for all of your host VR equipment and associated VR content/applications.

**WARNING — Olfactory Content and Scentware**

* The Omara device delivers specific scents within the digital experience. If you have a history of sensitivity or allergic reactions to certain smells or fragrance products, please use with caution. Discontinue use and see a doctor if you feel any discomfort.
* Only use the Omara device with approved hardware, content, scent cartridges, and scentware specifically designed for the OVR platform.
* Use of an unauthorized device, accessory, software, or hacking the device, software, or content may result in injury, performance issues, or damage to your Omara device, VR system, and related services — and will **void your warranty**.
* Use of unauthorized scentware or scent cartridges may result in injury, damage to your system and related services, and will **void your warranty**.
* The OVR Scent Cartridge is **not user-serviceable or refillable**. If you need additional scent supplies or believe a cartridge is not functioning correctly, contact OVR Technology support directly.
* **Choking hazard:** Omara and its accessories are not toys. The scent cartridge is a small part. Keep away from pets and children under 3.

**CAUTION — Scentware Safety**

* OVR scents are water-based (as opposed to solvent-based like many perfumes and colognes) to minimize irritants. The concentration of any scent material is less than 10% of total volume, and each scent is released in minimal quantities per interaction, so total exposure to any fragrance material is limited in scale. Fragrance materials are a combination of natural, artificial, and synthetic, and follow all fragrance standards set by IFRA (International Fragrance Association) for concentration and safety. People have different reactions to different materials, and some may experience allergic or other reactions.

**CAUTION — Omara Device and Scent Cartridge Care**

* Handle your Omara device with care — it contains sensitive electronic components.
* Follow the instructions in the manual for periodic maintenance and cleaning of the device and its components.
* Unplug all cables and power off the device before cleaning. Only clean the exterior. Use a dry cloth.
* Do not use liquid or chemical cleansers.
* Do not let the device get wet or come into contact with liquids. Water can damage the device and affect the quality and functionality of the scentware.
* Do not expose Omara to moisture, high humidity, high dust/airborne materials, temperatures outside its operating range, or direct sunlight.
* The device can be damaged if dropped, burned, punctured, or crushed, or if it contacts liquid. If you suspect damage to the device or its battery, discontinue use immediately — it may cause overheating or injury.
* Do not use your system if any part is broken or damaged. Stop using it and contact OVR Technology for support.
* Do not attempt to repair any part of the system yourself. Repairs must only be performed by an authorized servicer.
* Do not place Omara or the scent cartridge in areas that may get very hot — cooking surfaces, appliances, radiators, or direct sunlight. Excessive heating can damage the device, affect scentware quality, damage the battery, and potentially cause the device or battery to explode. Do not dry a wet/damp device with a heat source like a microwave, hair dryer, iron, or radiator. Avoid leaving the device in a car at high temperatures.
* **Do not store the scent cartridge in the Omara device when not in use.** Follow the cartridge storage instructions — failure to store in its designed case and proper environment may lead to premature cartridge failure.
* Avoid dropping the device. Dropping it — especially on a hard surface — can damage the device and battery. Inspect the device for visual damage before each use. If you suspect damage, contact OVR Support.
* Keep the device, charger, cables, and accessories away from children and pets.

**CAUTION — Skin Irritation**

* The device is placed near your nose, mouth, and skin. Stop using it if you notice swelling, itchiness, skin irritation, or other skin reactions. If symptoms persist, contact a doctor.
* The device is made of materials commonly used in consumer electronic devices. Scent cartridges are designed for safe repetitive use. However, certain people may develop skin irritation due to allergies or sensitivities. To reduce this risk:
  * Clean your device regularly.
  * Avoid using lotions or other products on the skin areas that contact the device.
  * Do not wear the device over injured skin.

**WARNING — AC Power, Battery, and Charging**

* Improper use of the battery or charging cable can result in fire, explosion, battery leakage, or other hazards. Follow these instructions to reduce risk of injury or property damage.
* Periodically inspect connection cords and connector tips for damage or wear. Do not use if any part of the port, cable, or connector is damaged, cracked, or exposed. Replace damaged power cords with a genuine OVR Technology replacement.
* When disconnecting the power cord, pull on the plug — not the cord.
* Do not leave or charge your device in direct sunlight for extended periods — this may damage or melt the battery.
* Use only AC power from a standard (mains) wall outlet. Do not use non-standard sources such as generators or inverters even if the voltage and frequency appear acceptable.
* Do not attempt to charge or use the device if it doesn't turn on after attempted charging, gets abnormally warm during use or charging, or if the battery compartment is swollen, leaking, or smoking.
* Do not disassemble, crush, bend, deform, puncture, shred, or pressurize the device. This can cause leakage or an internal short-circuit, resulting in overheating.
* In the event of a battery leak, do not allow the liquid to contact skin or eyes. If contact occurs, wash the affected area with large amounts of water and seek medical advice.
* Ensure the device has adequate ventilation and airflow during use and charging. Covering the device with materials that restrict airflow may affect performance and pose a fire or explosion risk.
* The device and USB cable comply with applicable limits for industry surface-temperature standards. To prevent low-temperature burns from prolonged direct contact, avoid direct skin contact during charging.
* Users with special medical or physical conditions that impair the ability to detect heat against the skin should take special care when using the device or charging via USB.
* Exposed device cables and cords pose a tripping hazard. Protect cords from being walked on or crushed. Arrange all cables so people and pets aren't likely to trip over them or pull on them. Do not allow children to play with cables or cords.

**CAUTION — Electrical Shock**

To reduce the risk of electric shock:

* Do not open, disassemble, pierce, or attempt to modify any provided components.
* Do not charge this device if any part of the provided USB cable is torn, any wires are exposed, or the battery compartment is damaged.
* Do not insert metal, conductive, or any foreign objects into the charging port.
* Do not expose the device to water or fluid.
* Use **only** the provided USB cable with your device.

**WARNING — Keep Away from Children and Pets**

* Omara and its accessories are not toys. Do not allow small children to play with them — children could hurt themselves or others, or damage your device.
* Keep the device, charger, cables, and accessories out of reach of children and pets.
* **Choking hazard.** This device may contain small parts that pose a choking hazard to children under 3 years old.
